shortly after the covid pandemic began, my mom - who's health is fragile - moved in with my partner and i until the situation gets under control. we have since developed routines & procedures for minimizing our risk of infection & transmission.
i have a long history of advocating for emergency preparedness in my family, and had actually convinced everyone to stock basic emergency supplies and establish preparedness frameworks just a few months before the pandemic began. i also took a natural hazards course last year which deepened my understanding of disaster scenarios.
for these reasons and others, the effects of the pandemic have been far more manageable for me and my family than it has been for many others.
