"In this paper, I'll be exploring the way in which animated adaptations of two of the most iconic and influential 8Os Japanese cyberpunk narratives, AKIRA and Ghost in the Shell, further employ a hybrid of hand-drawn and digital animation to lend themselves to a deeper consideration of the increasingly transformative impact of human-computer interactions, both as a phenomenon within cinematic storytelling itself as well as a cultural manifestation which questions the limits of traditional human experiences of biology and gender.”
